Monday with the Editor: ENJOY!

Hallo everyone

Last week, a couple of young Singaporeans now studying in London wrote in to thank Madam Kang for the work she did in our Singaporean Cooking Kitchen section.

These chaps told her "your recipes are great, and they're the sort of homecooked dishes we miss. Your pictures are wonderful - in your quintessential Singaporean HDB flat, with the very 'cooling' cotton sleeveless blouses you wear, and the familiar utensils and kitchen layout. obviously we don't know you, but we find you strangely familiar, like somebody's grandmother/grandaunt..." You can read the rest of their message HERE!

Now, from what they said, we can tell these young ones are obviously homesick for Singapore. That's a good feeling altogether; it tells us that the notion of Singapore as a nation in Singaporeans' minds is still very strong.

So I got to thinking that now might be a good time as any to roll out our new section specially for those of us Singaporeans, as well as foreign expatriates who used to work here but have gone home or elsewhere to work. I believe these people want a place on the Internet where they can come together to share recipes, thoughts, happenings, ideas and the like.

Of course, we know that there are many other Web sites out there doing the same thing, and maybe even doing it spectacularly successfully. We still wish that this new gathering place on our Web site, which we have named ENJOY!, will have its own little place in the hearts of Singaporeans as well as foreign expats.

Membership in ENJOY! is free. We have created four main categories: America, Asia, Europe & Others. We have placed cities, instead of countries, in each of these main categories. That's because the living and happenings occur in cities and we want to bring out the vibrancy of the cities.

So, if you are staying in, say London, you can contribute articles/stories on your happenings there. If the city you are in now is not shown in the four main categories, we will add them as soon as we receive your registration as a member.

Once you have registered online, you can post your stories or happenings under the CITY category you are now residing in. As soon as we have sighted your article, we will publish it 'live' for all to see. You can even upload photos, but, please make sure they are your own photos - we don't want others to complain we have infringed on their copyright rights!

And if you have any suggestions, send them in to me at editor@getforme.com. To visit ENJOY!, just type http://www.getforme.com/enjoy or click HERE!
