Fete de la Musique at Alliance Française

The Alliance Française in Singapore will be joining more than 110 countries in celebrating Solstice, the start of summer, in an all-day music festival on 21 June 2003. This one-day music festival aims to promote music-making and music appreciation by amateurs and professional alike.

Fête de la Musique was launched in France in 1982 by the former Minister of Culture, Mr Jack Lang. It has since become an international festival “day of music” celebrated in over 110 countries every 21 June.

The Alliance Française hopes to make this event an annual affair for all to enjoy. Fête de la Musique is one of the major fundraising initiatives by the association for its Building Fund this year. All proceeds from this event will benefit the Fund. PricewaterhouseCoopers is its sponsorship partner for the Fête.

The one-day programme features the following exciting performances:

A Summer Interlude by Singapore National Youth Orchestra (SNYO)

12.00pm - 12.40pm

S$20 per ticket, includes Buffet Lunch from 12.45pm - 3.00pm

The SNYO opens this day-long music festival with different quartets presenting a selection of classical favourites such as Tchaikovsky’s String Quartet No 1 in D (4th movement) and Mozart’s Flute Quartet in A major (3rd movement).
