Dine Alfresco at China Square Central on Friday Nights

This event has expired. The article appears as a historical record.

Starting 5pm Friday 15 August, China Square Central (CSC) will kick off its first dine alfresco event aptly named “After 5 @ CSC”.

This will be welcome news especially for the working crowd in the nearby Chinatown, Raffles Place and Tanjong Pagar precincts as they need not commute too far from their offices after a hectic work week to unwind, relax and enjoy a meal with friends, colleagues, clients or family.

Even shoppers and visitors will delight in dining under the stars after bagging their best buys and exploring the nooks and crannies within China Square Central.

It is no secret that alfresco dining is popular among Singaporeans-- many attribute enjoyment of it to the free range, non-confining space and the relaxed mode is enhanced by the sound of a fountain.

“After 5 @ CSC” hopes to also introduce its wide selection of food and beverage available at China Square Central. For the next three Fridays (ie 15, 22 & 29 August), food outlet kiosks will line the open dining area and all one needs to do is to place the food order, indicate the table number, and just sit back, relax and wait to be served.

Whether it be a quick snack or a full meal, the participating food & beverage tenants (Banquet Foodcourt, Juice Station, Old Saigon Vietnamese Tim Sum Restaurant, Shin-Tokyo Kushiage Express, Don Your Personal Pie Club, House of  Sundanese  and Vil’age-The Restaurant in a Village) will satisfy with an interesting selection that includes assorted Vietnamese tim sum, deep fried and barbecued food items, waffles, crepes, assorted cakes, ice cream, teh tarik, fresh coconut, fruit juices, and choice beers from Erdinger, Tiger and Carlsberg.

As with perks that come with alfresco dining, diners will be entertained by ‘Liquid’, a popular 3-piece jazz ensemble performing a repertoire that includes smooth jazz, deep house, acid jazz etc. ‘Liquid’ will perform live at China Square Central on alfresco dining nights from 7pm to 9pm.

Venue: China Square Central (Nankin Mall) 18 Cross Street, Singapore 048423

How to get there: Nearest MRT station - Chinatown (exit E). Bus services: SBS 80, 103, 145, 166, 197; TIBS 61; NR5; SN 40.
