Toy Factory Theatre Ensemble presents Land Of Joy

Source: Page To Stage Studio

As a special treat for children during school holidays, Toy Factory Theatre Ensemble will be presenting a Mandarin children’s production Land of Joy from 6 – 30 November 2003 at our new black-box theatre, Toy Factory at the Attic.

The play revolves around a kind-hearted captain who tried to save the endangered animals. He led the animals on a journey in search of a land of joy and peace. However, an illegal animal trading group plotted to kidnap the precious animals. The captain and the animals then decided to battle against the villains.

The animals in the play portray a vibrant and colourful image with amiable characters. To entice the children’s interest, the production is made lively with songs and dance, as well as humorous dialogues.  In addition, the cast will interact with the children during the performance to add in more spontaneity and fun in the theatre.

Land of Joy is jointly written by local playwright Lim Jen Erh, Sze Ban Wah and Su Chun Ying. Originally produced by Page To Stage, Land of Joy premiered at the Young People’s Theatre Festival organized by National Arts Council in 1995.

The production was put up at Guinness Theatre at The Substation and achieved 90 per cent ticket sales. It has received overwhelming response from both young and old audience. Toy Factory hopes that, through re-staging this entertaining and educational production, we hope to nurture children in appreciating the magic of theatre art and learning the importance of treasuring the life of all beings.
