Junior College Ranking 2002

Based on the 2001 GCE A-level examination results, Victoria JC was top JC for value-added performance while National JC came in second.

The value-added performance of a JC is calculated by comparing its students' A-level performance against the expected performance based on their O-level results when they entered the JC. In the area of physical fitness, Jurong JC, National JC and Hwa Chong JC were the top JCs.

Table 1 shows the performance of each college in a number of selected academic performance indicators and the L1R5 intake score of its students.

Table 2 shows the students' physical fitness and percentage of overweight students in each JC.

In Table 3, the colleges are ranked according to the different indicators, including value-added performance and fitness index. It shows that different colleges excel in different areas.

Table 4 shows the L1R5 aggregate scores of students admitted to the different JCs in 2002.

Data on the performance of each JC will be included in the Information Booklet which students will receive when applying for admission into JCs.

The second project is to develop portable fingerprinting equipment which uses laser beams to scan for the faintest prints. (H1)

From 2003, principals who have been in their posts for six years will be able to go on two-month sabbaticals, with full pay. They will be free to choose what they want to do, whether it is here or overseas, and will be given up to S$8,000 to cover expenses such as air fares and conference fees. (H5)
