Month of Photography - Video & short films screening at The Substation

Here is the finalised line-up of films being screened today and tomorrow at the Guinness Theatre, The Substation. The video and short film screenings are an Alliance Francaise presented programme, which is part of the Singapore Arts Festival.

Short Film Schedule:

18 June 2002

Molotov Cocktails by Heman Chong (11 min)

Molotov Cocktails was designed as an installation which consists of three videos simultaneously back-projected from three projectors onto specially designed cloth frames which were displayed at Singapore Art Museum .

Maintenance by David Proulx ( 8:40 min)

An accident in the office sets in motion a chain of events which serves to make gentle fun of the absurdities of office politics.

Holiday by Wee Li Lin (23 min)

A dark comedy about a hardworking manager, Boon, who gets retrenched and has to deal with this uncomfortable situation.

Tastes of Life by Anthea Neo, Ng Hui, Andy Ong and Adrian Tan (28 min)

A modern drama set in a local backdrop about food and life, which form the unifying theme of the plot.

19 June 2002

Luna Park by Catherine Beaugrand (27 min)

Concentrating on themes about globalisation and communication in different places of the world, the French video artist Catherine Beaugrand brings us into a strange leisure park.

Rant & Rave by CheeK ( 3:30 min)

The rantings and ravings of a frustrated artist, served cold with a twist of audience participation.

L.S.D by Raymond Chin (18 min)

A light hearted yet serious look at how a man, afflicted with a life-altering condition akin to a cruel curse, must come to terms with a sexual self-denial and his self-identity.

Love Bites by A.P Komen & Karen Murphy (11 min)

Love Bites is like a video photo romance. The artists play a real love intrigue based on the need to love and to be loved.

Mother by Royston Tan (6 min)

Infused with an ironic mix of nostalgic sentimentality and contempt, Mother explores the love-hate relationship between a mother and her son.  This film received the Voice Award at the Singapore Shorts Film Festival 2001.

Tickets at S$5 and S$4 (concession) are available at The Substation box office from 4pm to 8pm on weekdays. Call (65) 6337 7800. For event information, contact Alliance Francaise at (65) 6737 8422.

NEW WEBSITES  is an online travel service launched on 30 May 2002. Travellers who use it can slice an average of 20 per cent, and up to 30 per cent, off regular air ticket and hotel prices. But customers cannot pick a specific airline or hotel as this will be selected by Priceline from its pool of partners - 25 airlines and more than 8,000 hotels around the world., has brief details of men and women on the market for a spouse. There is no limit to how many people they can choose, but the other party must consent before they meet. The web site is run by the Social Development Unit's Choice Match dating service.
