Suede to perform at Fort Canning

Source: Publicity Ink

Suede are back this time round and they will be playing at Fort Canning on Saturday, 25 Jan 2003 at 8pm. The date at Fort Canning is part of an Asian tour in support of their latest album, A New Morning.

Suede have always been very London, very now, and very glam. With them kick-starting the renaissance in British guitar groups, there is no question that Suede are one of the UK’s most important and influential bands.

Suede music is the music we have got to listen to - typical European glamour rock music with electric guitar everywhere and complicated but enjoyable plot. Suede songs sound even more special through Brett Anderson's distinctive vocals.

A New Morning, Suede’s hotly-anticipated fifth album is the follow-up to the band¹s Head Music which debuted at No.1 in 1999. Produced by Stephen Street and released on 30 Sep 2002, the track listing runs as follows:

Positivity; Obsessions; Lonely Girls; Lost In TV; Beautiful Loser; Street Life; Astro Girl; Morning; One Hit To The Body; Where The Rain falls.

"The record's about looking at life a different way I suppose," ponders Brett, "Looking at life as something that's potentially great instead of troubled and confused."

"For me it's a symbol of a new start for the band,” says Brett on the album title. “It isn't suddenly a reggae record or a swing record or anything like that. It's definitely a Suede record. But it seems like there's a sense of freshness injected into it. When we were making the record I was feeling very excited about life and hopefully some of that vitality has come across on the actual recording."

That "Best New Band In Britain" piece described Suede as "the most audacious, mysterious, sexy, absurd, perverse, glamorous, hilarious, honest, cocky, melodramatic, mesmerising band you're ever likely to fall in love with." Ten years on, it still stands true.

Tickets priced at $75 (excluding GST and $1 Sistic fee) are available at Sistic. Call 6348 5555 or click HERE!.
