National Library Board's "Read-A-Thon" programme for children

Source: National Library Board

Want to have free ice-cream or a discount on selected items at McDonald's (YMCA & Parklane branches)?

Just read more! In its latest effort to promote reading among the young, Central Community Library has partnered with McDonald's (YMCA & Parklane branches) to organise a Read-A-Thon, where young library users compete with one another for the most number of books read.

The two-month-long programme, which is open to children between the ages of five and 12 years old, will start from tomorrow, 14 October 2002, and end on 14 December 2002.

To participate, library users need to register at Central Community Library to obtain a passbook. The passbook holds a record of the number of books a participant has borrowed and read. Prolific readers will stand to win some attractive prizes, including collectibles from McDonald's.

The winner of Read-A-Thon will be the one who has read the most number of books by 14 December 2002.

Detailed rules and regulations of Read-A-Thon can be obtained at Central Community Library.

Registration for the programme starts tomorrow, 14 Oct 2002, at Central Community Library. For more information, call (65) 6332 3641 or 6332 3646.
