The Courtyard Sessions presents Blues Out!

Organised by The Centre for the Arts, NUS

The best of blues and jazz meets for the very first time at the Courtyard@University Cultural Centre, NUS, on 30 November 2002 at 6.30pm.  Blues Out! features ublues (Universal Blues Band), Kelvin ‘Smokey’ Ng, and Jeremy Monteiro.

ublues, Singapore's top blues band, will perform different blues-oriented styles from delta, Chicago, swing, funk to soul and rock ‘n’ roll, while Kelvin ‘Smokey’ Ng, Singapore's ace harmonicist, will offer sweet versions of blues with his innovative harmonica blowing.

Together, these performers will display the different blues dimensions, kicking up an energizing musical experience.  Audiences can also look forward to a special appearance by critically acclaimed jazz pianist and Cultural Medallion winner Jeremy Monteiro.

An Al Fresco style performance under The Courtyard Sessions, Blues Out! will transform the Courtyard@University Cultural Centre into an appealing blues scene. The Courtyard Sessions presents unique quarterly events that invite audiences to unwind to quality music.

The last Courtyard Sessions on 28 August, which played to a packed crowd, featured Seneghazim – an African trio of three talented musicians, Chartwell Dutiro (Zimbabwe), Seckou Keita (Senegal) and Ben Baddoo (Ghana) – in collaboration with Sri Warisan’s Madame Som Said Performing Arts (Singapore).

Admission and parking: free. Food and drinks by Dome will also be available for sale at the venue. General Enquiries: 6874-1244.
