HotCurrie Theatre presents Footy Molls

Source: HotCurrie Theatre

HotCurrie Theatre will be presenting Footy Molls, a comedy about Australia's obsession with sport, sporting achievements and sports celebrities, at YMS Auditorium in Waterloo Street from 31 Oct - 8 Nov 2002 at 8pm nightly.*

Footy Molls is a brand new full-length comedy from the Australian writer of "The Expat Wife". The comedy is a laugh-a-minute romp into the world of the AFL, of men, of women, of life..... and stars Kate Naughton (Brokenville, Of Mice and Men), Jenny Bedford (The Odd Couple), Malti Lalwani (First Touch, Romeo and Juliet) and Audrey Currie (The Expat Wife).

Unlike other works which have focused on the men involved with sport (ie. David Williamson's
The Club), FOOTY MOLLS highlights the women who follow football - the fans we see at the weekly games, the wives or girlfriends of former and present professional or non-professional players whose social lives revolve as much
around the sporting calendar as the men's.

What's Footy Molls? Here's a sprinkling to prepare you for what's coming: It's Grand Final Day of the footy! Beanies are out, scarves are wrapped, Starsky & Hutch cardigans abound and K-mart's all out of home-team jerseys.

As is the ritual, 34-year-old Annie prepares to watch the game but this year she's not on the hill with her friends and boyfriend of 16 years -  Lenny; she's in the home of pregnant schoolmate Tines and Tines' equally pregnant daughter, 17-year-old Emmanuelle-Jade.

Annie, having long yearned for a move from the suburbs into the city invites long-lost school friend Susan, now a city girl herself, to watch the match and when aerobics instructor Bunny and Fat Narelle turn up unexpectedly, the girls, now barracking for different teams, reunite on the biggest day of the sporting calendar: the Grand Finals.

Tickets at S$28, S$35 and S$37 are available from SISTIC now. Ticket price includes GST and S$1 SISTIC fee. Call (65) 6348 5555 or click HERE!

*The performance has been extended by one day at a different venue. On 9 Nov 2002 at 8pm, the performance will be held at DBS Arts Centre, 20 Merbau Road.
