Hear the lonely heart that beats within the dark prison walls, as The Centre for the Arts, NUS, presents Jim Jarrett in "VINCENT": A Full-Length Play Written by Leonard Nimoy, at the University Cultural Centre Theatre from 31 July to 3 August 02.

Performed by acclaimed actor Jim Jarrett and written by Star Trek legend Leonard Nimoy, VINCENT is a captivating one-man show that grapples with the psychological, emotional and spiritual turmoil within the painfully misunderstood artist, Vincent Van Gogh.

Told though the character of Theo, Vincent’s brother, this play reveals how this famous artist’s life is more than an eye, palette and brush.

Highly regarded as deeply moving, tragic and potentially life changing, VINCENT will make audiences laugh, cry and even possibly question their own existence.

This play begins one week after Vincent’s death.  Apart from exploring the relationship between Theo and Vincent, it will also examine the latter’s relationship with art as well as the nature of his external and internal world.

Jim Jarrett will skilfully weave his way through the portrayals of the passionate Vincent and his sorrowful brother Theo to bring to life the relationship between the two brothers in a timeless tale of love, art, pain and tragedy.

Jarrett was tutored by American acting guru Sanford Meisner – mentor to many Hollywood legends from the inimitable Gregory Peck to the enigmatic Robert Duval – and had worked with him for four years.  He was introduced to VINCENT in 1994.

Tickets at S$25 for Matinees, $25 & $35 for Nightly Performances (Price excludes S$1 SISTIC fee) are available at all SISTIC outlets. Ticketing hotline: 6348-5555 or Online booking: www.sistic.com.sg. 10% discount for Group & Corporate Purchase of 10 tickets & above. General enquiries: 6874-1244.

  Showtimes are: 3pm (31 Jul & 3 Aug 2002) and 8pm (1 - 3 Aug 2002)

The public is also invited to a one-hour Talk by Jim Jarrett at library@orchard on 30 July 2002 at 7 pm.  Jarrett will attempt to unravel the enigma of Vincent, who is perhaps the most recognised painter in history.  Admission is free.

Additionally, the Singapore Art Museum will be conducting a free Educational Talk on Vincent - The Artist at its premises on 26 and 27 July 2002 at 3pm.  Open to the public, this talk offers rich insight into the picture techniques used by Vincent and the inspiration behind his works.
