A light-rail link between Sentosa and the World Trade Centre will be completed at the end of 2002. The S$140 million people-mover system will replace the monorail system in Sentosa.

Consumers can look forward to lower electricity prices and choose to buy it from more suppliers with a wider range of services in a few years' time. They may also pay different charges for using power at different times of the day. These sweeping changes were among others announced by the Minister for Trade & Industry George Yeo.

Executive secretary Chung Poh Chee was sentenced to six months' jail in a district court for dragging her maid, Ms Sulastri Suhedi, 24, to the toilet and hitting her with the shower head.
